Mohammed El Mohajir is European Master in Environmental
System Modelling from University of Liege (1992) and Doctor of Science from
the University Catholic of Louvain (Belgium) (1997). He joined Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdelah University in 2004 and then moved to the Abdelmalek Essaadi University in 2021. He is Professor at the
department of computer sciences where he lectures Databases and Information Systems Design and implementation, Datawarehousing and Business Intelligence for
decision-support, Requirements and Software Engineering and Project management, for both
undergraduate and master levels.
He was a research assistant
at the UCL from 1992 to 1997 and then Doctor Research Associate from 1997 to
1998. He then moved to the United Kingdom to hold a Senior Research Associate
position at the School of Mathematics at the University
of East Anglia in
Norwich. In 2001, he joined the Information Technology department at a
multinational Telecommunication Company based in Brussels as a Software Systems
Engineer and IT Project manager. He has been involved in many European and international
projects with the UCL (Belgium), CERFACS (France), Metéo France (France), LMD
(France), KNMI (Netherlands), NCAR (USA), Met. Office and Hadley Centre (UK), CTM (Spain), CNR and University of Pisa (Italy).
He is a member of many scientific associations and societies and serves on many
national and international scientific and organizing committees. He is
member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Information and Communication Technology indexed by Scopus (Elsevier) , Guest Editor of two special issues of the IADIS International journal on computer science and information
systems in 2009 and 2014
and co-author of more than 50 papers that have appeared in referred
symposia, magazines and journals. He is IEEE Senior member, he was the IEEE Morocco newsletter editor from 2005
to 2008 and vice-chair from 2007 to 2015, Counselor in 2007 of the IEEE USMBA
Student Branch. He was appointed in
January 2011 the Chair of the IEEE Morocco computer & communications
chapter, and elected in 2016 as the IEEE Morocco Section Chair. He is the founder and head of the Research Group on Datawarehousing & Business Intelligence and Big Data Analytics at the Faculty of sciences Dhar Mahraz in Fez and director of the research laboratory on informatics, modeling and systems from 2017 till 2020. He was member of the steering
committee of the the department of computer sciences between 2009 and 2012 and member of the faculty board from 2011 to 2014.
He is the founder and General Chair of the IEEE international Congress
on Information Sciences and Technology since 2011, whose proceeding is indexed by DBLP, Scopus and IEEE Xplore. He is also the Editor-In-Chief of the International Journal
of Information Science and Technology since 2017. He is Member of the
MoICT ERA-WIDE project funded by the 7th European
Framework Program (2012-2014), and jury member of the 2015 North African Falling Walls Lab. His research interest is
towards conceptual modeling, requirement engineering and entreprise Organizational modeling, decision-support Information Systems and Big Data Analytics. He is also carrying out research and consultancy work in large private and public sector organisations in Morocco and Europe.
