The IEEE Morocco Section has engaged since 2016 to make the 19th edition of MELECON a memorable event and pursue on its long history of excellence in both Electro-Technology and ICT. The event gathered about 80 participants from 25 countries was held on May 2018 in Marrakech and was considered as an intensive learning and capacity building event where a community composed of highly talented and distinguished researchers, professionals, and experts from Morocco and abroad got together to broaden their knowledge and share their experiences. The event was also an opportunity to reinforce networking and discuss innovative ideas and opportunities for synergies to start new projects and collaboration at various levels, within academia and between academia and industry.
This is the spirit of the IEEE community and this is how we want it to work towards our human and socio-economic development, and for advancing our research work and maintain it at the required international academic standards.
The conference featured five Keynotes plenary sessions by Prof. Magdalena Salazar Palma, Prof. Laurent Fesquet, Prof. Kukjin Chun, Prof. Mike Hinchey. Two Panel Sessions were organized by Prof. Jovica Milanovic, and dedicated to the presentation of the main findings of two European H2020 research projects; the NOBEL GRID project prospective, and the MIGRATE project. In addition to a special session & Panel that dealt with the Morocco e-Gov and Digital Transformation of Municipalities.
Extended versions of the presented papers were now under processing to be published in two special issues in the International Journal of Information Science and Technology (iJIST)
